4 Tips to Help You Find Success With Game-Streaming

What is the first thing that pops to mind when you see the word “streaming?” For some, it would be streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, for others, it would be IPTVs and their ilk.

When we say streaming, us geeks will most likely think of platforms like Twitch. Anyone can use Twitch, but it will take time to build your Twitch community and enjoy hundreds upon thousands of views every day. The fact of the matter is that you will succeed if you know exactly what to do.

If you are interested in streaming, here are a few tips to help you get started.

1. Stay as Unique as possible

With thousands of other streamers on the internet, you need to do what it takes to be as unique as possible – even if you are playing the same games as everyone else. That way, people will recognize you from the crowds of people, and give you their time and attention to see what you have to offer.

How do you stay unique? There are many ways you can go about this. For instance, you can personalize your space on platforms like Twitch. This acts sort of like an Apple store, where people can immediately identify it as your own.

Another thing you can do is create challenges you want to accomplish each week. For example, you might want to do a challenge in which you try to reach a certain rank within a time limit. You may even get your audience involved by taking on challenges that they suggest.

Whatever it is you do to stay unique, stick to it. That is the only way you are going to stand out from the crowd.

2. Discover your niche

While it might seem that your best chance of growth is to play the most popular games, the truth is that the majority of viewers will already have discovered someone they like and will stick with them. This does not mean you will not find success, but it does mean that it will be a lot harder.

To ensure you attract a respectable amount of people with your streams, you must discover your niche. A great way to do this is to play the games that you enjoy, especially ones that are less mainstream. The communities there are much more welcoming, and they will be more than happy to check out what you have to offer.

3. Be interactive

While it is essential to attract viewers, if you want to have a big channel, what is more vital is that they keep on watching. An excellent way to do this is to be open to interaction! Sure – people might have dropped by to watch the game you are playing – but the reason that many stick around is that the streamer is fun to interact with.

Check the chat and say hello. Set challenges as per point 2, chat with your viewers about progress, take suggestions, run polls, and there are even games you can play with your viewers, or with Twitch interactions, so viewers can have an impact on the game.

4. Be Consistent

Remember to be consistent with your streaming. It’s annoying if someone said they’d stream on Wednesday at 8 and they don’t turn up with no warning. This is a sure fire way to lose subs. Set up your schedule and let the audience know when they can expect to see you. That way, they will be ready for you when you come online, and ready to have a fun stream with you.

Whether you are a new streamer or one that has already gained a following, remember the tips we have shared if you long for a successful streaming career.

Put simply, you need to be unique, interactive, engaging, and most importantly, fun to watch. Also, do not forget to have fun. After all, following these tips but finding no joy in them is a terrible reason to start streaming. In fact, the lack of fun might just be the reason you stop short of success later on!

In other words, while you have to put some time and effort into building your channel, you’ve also got to enjoy what you are doing, otherwise what’s the point?

And if you just want to have some fun, playing games, then go for it and enjoy!
