Tim Schafer is a god. Not an actual one, but in my eyes he, well ‘can do no wrong’ would be a lie but which deity ever gets things 100% right? See Greece, Rome, God of War, the holy wars, the dark ages… You get the picture.
The man who worked on The Secret of Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, Psychonauts, Brutal Legend, Costume Quest, Stacking, Happy Action Theatre, The Cave, Broken Age, and the forthcoming Psychonauts 2 made an appearance at last weekend’s EGX Rezzed.
Talking about his career, including his time at Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts, setting up Double Fine, the highs, lows and lessons learned, crowdfunding, voice acting and much more, Tim made a great start to the Friday lineup.
I was going to film it but Eurogamer were streaming it anyway, so here’s the vid. Dead Easy! Check it out and let Tim be the light that leads you into the gaming industry.
A couple of quotes, because I get into trouble if I don’t type enough words, even if it’s video content.
“Make a game that no one else could make”. – Tim Schafer
“I just don’t have the imagination to quit.” – Tim Schafer
What a guy!
Psychonauts 2 was funded through a mixture of Kickstarter, past projects, and publisher money. It;s coming sometime.
