Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat, please put a penny in the old man’s hat. What a year 2020 has been so far. At least we have Christmas to look forward to eh? And YES! Join us as we take a look at, and lust after/get a bit snarky about, some of the best geeky advent calendars 2020 has to offer.

HARRY POTTER ADVENT CALENDARS 2020

You’re a blizzard, Harry. Hopefully not this Christmas, but there’s a blizzard of Wizarding World themed advent calendars.

HARRY POTTER ADVENT CALENDAR 2020

What do you most think of when you remember the adventures of Harry and his crew? The first time he played Quidditch? The Triwizard Tournament? The final battle against Voldemort? Apparently, the creators of the Harry Potter Advent Calendar, £24.99, think ‘stationery’, for this is filled with pencils, notebooks, sticky notes and erasers. MAGICAL. Now go and do your homework or admin or I’ll set Fluffy on you.

HARRY POTTER CUBE ADVENT CALENDAR 2020

Sure, you may know Harry Potter, but do you know Harry Potter IN THE CUBE? HARRY POTTER 12 DAY SOCK ADVENT CALENDAR 2020

Why not forgo half of your flaps in favour of getting something quite good? Socks! 12 pairs of socks for £30 isn’t bad, depending on how much you usually spend on socks. Matalan is tough to beat, but these Harry Potter socks will be quite thin, and probably not great quality… but they are emblazoned with glasses, owls, and the deathly hallows. Ever wanted Dobby on your ankle? You need the Harry Potter 12 Day Sock Advent Calendar 2020.

LEGO HARRY POTTER ADVENT CALENDAR 2020

DISNEY ADVENT CALENDARS 2020

The House of Mouse has a huge number of advent calendars out there – the limited-edition coin collection being very much out of stock already. Here’s our four picks, and wow, they’re slim pickings this year.

DISNEY VILLAINS ADVENT CALENDAR 2020

Would you rather end up on the naughty list? Have you been a bad, bad, boy? Well, here comes the Disney Villains Advent Calendar for £25. Filled with the same pencils and stamps as many other listed here, you may be better off just buying Disney Villainous instead. You can grab something random from the box once a day and then play on Christmas eve. Make your own rules for advent, you are a villain after all.

FROZEN 2 ADVENT CALENDAR 2020

With £10 off, the Disney Frozen 2 Advent Calendar 2020 comes in at £15, making it one of the better value geeky advent calendars on this list. DISNEY STORYBOOK ADVENT CALENDAR

Reduced to just £12, apparently no kid wants books in their advent calendar, the Disney Storybook Advent Calendar includes 24 festive mini stories from Disney and Pixar.

DISNEY PIXAR’S CARS ADVENT CALENDAR

This is kinda cool, and if I didn’t think Cars was terrible I’d possibly be down for the Disney Pixar Cars Advent Calendar for £24.66. With 4 toy cars, a track, and other bits and pieces (which makes it a really fun day when you open the day with a traffic cone) this one has potential for actual fun. Unlike the movies…

Let’s take a fandom break and raise a festive glass. Or mug.

DRINKY ADVENT CALENDARS 2020

COFFEE24 CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN SELECTION

There’s even a classic English breakfast blend in there.

GINMAS ADVENT CALENDAR

A bit of a swizz, it’s more of a tonic water advent calendar. The Ginmas Advent Calendar comes with 1 bottle of boutique gin and 24 different tonics to go with it for £134.95, but I’d still be happy to see this one arrive at my door. And might also get my gin habit under control if I have to make it last 24 days…

WINE DOWN TO CHRISTMAS ADVENT CALENDAR

A mini bottle of wine a day. What could possibly go wrong? This is 2020 so why not pour some white zinfandel on your cornflakes? The Wine Down to Christmas Advent Calendar includes 24 mini bottles of wine, including reds, whites, a couple of rose and even a prosecco.  For £84.95 you might be better doing a run to the supermarket.

BAILEYS ADVENT CALENDAR

Slightly less alcoholic but slightly more affordable at £13, the Baileys Advent Calendar does not have mini bottles of Baileys, but rather 24 Baileys chocolate truffles are nestled behind its cardboard flaps, waiting to be devoured by the Baileys fan in your life.

FOODIE ADVENT CALENDARS

Better start soaking up some of that wine with some nibbles. Nobody likes a drunk geek angrily monologuing about how terrible Jar Jar Binks is AGAIN.

Degustabox usually send out a box of unusual foods each month, this time they’ve made the Degustabox Advent Calendar for £39.99 – GET £5 OFF WITH CODE ADVENTC – with full sizedfoods, rather than a funsized treat, you don’t know what’s coming. GOURMET POPCORN ADVENT CALENDAR 2020

24 bags of delicious gourmet popcorn, across 6 flavours including Salted Caramel, Pop N Choc, Pecan Pie, Butterly Nuts, Berry-licious and Say Cheese. I hate nuts so that’s 2 flavours out for me, you might find more mileage in the Gourmet Popcorn Advent Calendar 2020 for £20 from Popcorn Shed.

RETRO SWEETS ADVENT CALENDAR

Ah, the 10p mix of my youth is long gone, but you can still get your hands on some Black Jacks, Fruit Salads, Fizzers, Love Hearts and plenty more with the Retro Sweets Advent Calendar for £12.99. Just remember to brush your teeth after. Coaching for Geeks is not responsible for the loss of any fillings this Christmas.

Phew! That’s a lot of geeky advent calendars to choose from for Christmas 2020. Hopefully nobody accidently builds a killer robot from the Haynes kits, but who knows what the rest of the year has in store?

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat.

They’re Transylvanian vampire geese, they ate the old man’s cat.
