Summary:

Lots of potential with Degusta Box but squandered on a grey box of supposedly healthy snacks for January.

Degusta Box promises a surprise each month for a relatively low subscription box price. £12.99 gets you 10 to 15 surprise products, many of which are completely new to the market.

So naturally you get a survey so the marketing machine can keep on chugging, and you earn points to get free boxes.

Payment is taken immediately for the first box, and then on the 11th of each month.

You can pause or cancel really easily, gift boxes to other people, and the back end is all clear and clean and simple.

So let’s open the box and see what’s inside.

I really should take photos

Sorry about that, it's all in the vid - next time!

Is it value for money?

OK, a little disappointing for the January box and my first one. There was nothing outstanding or particularly interesting to me, and a lot of sugar masquerading as healthy.

However – apart from the Red Quinoa and Sesame Ryvita, which I’d already bought, I’d never have picked any of these items up and I got to try something new.

Let’s do the maths and figure out if this was worth the price. I am going by the cost you can buy them for rather than the price on the included fact sheet.

YES! Fruit and Nut bar x 3 - £3.60

Pipers Crispeas Mataar Paneer – 94p

PBfit Peanut Butter Powder x 2 – not available, listed at £1.50

LioBites Freeze Dried Apple Crisps – not available, listed at £1.50

Miso Tasty Original Ramen Noodle Kit  - £2.62

Pick Up! Milk Chocolate - £1.69

Willy’s Apple Cider Vinegar – not available at this size, listed at £2.95

Ryvita Protein Red Quinoa and Sesame - £1.59

Hartleys 10 Cal Jelly Pots x 2 – £1

Kallo Lightly Salted Organic Rice Cakes - £1.00

Total value -  £18.39

(the total they gave came to £20.13 which will be the RRP but shops have discounted some items)

Cost - £12.99

With discount - £7.99

SAVING - £10.40

Frankly that's an absolute bargain.

And also the packaging let's you be a cheapo cosplay ice queen.

DEGUSTA BOX CONCLUSION

I was a little disappointed but am left excited for the next box. This could easily get another .5 if it tried a tiny bit harder, even at full price.

Partially recommended, definitely worth a shot. Don't forget to use that discount! Looking forward to seeing if teh next one does better but after that... NO MORE CHANCES.

3/5

The Good Stuff:
  • Great value for money with discount code DEGUSTA5

  • Lots of things I'd never think to buy

  • Genuinely quite exciting to try new things even if January's was a little dull
The Bad Stuff:
  • January box was a bit dull

  • Lot's of 'healthy' stuff but no real nutrition
