Three Must-Have Gadgets for 2021

Jan 14, 2021

Everybody loves a gadget, do they not?

Everybody loves a new piece of technology that makes life easier, as well as being something you can show off to friends? For bona fide geeks, the more complex the better. It takes a great amount of skill for a developer to create a gadget that can properly impress someone of a technical persuasion, and with a market so choked with products, we have been digging for some of the most exciting gadgets.

What makes a good gadget purchase? That will vary from one person to the next, but connectivity to existing tech seems to be relevant in the modern world, with the Internet of Things presenting opportunities for product developers. Functionality is important, a gadget is great if it avoids simply being gimmicky, and provides a genuine function or reason for purchase.

Buying a gadget in early 2021 might be a problem for many, with restrictions placed on movement and retail, but often the best gadgets are found on niche websites, rather than the shelf of your local department store. It can make purchasing fun, but also a real challenge – so, where do you look to compare prices? How do you find the exact gadget you want, if it is a gift, for instance? Are you getting the best price? It is often worth watching out for online provider sales days such as Black Friday or other promotional events. There may be offers to be had on gadget and electronics which are not available at other times of the year. However, whilst there is a strategy for buying a gadget, the very least you need is an idea of what you might wish to purchase early this year. To help, we have pulled a couple of exciting gadgets that could well be on your wish list this spring.

NES Classic Edition

Retro gaming is more popular and accessible than ever. The rise of the Raspberry Pi has made emulation easy, and several big companies have seized upon that and developed products such as the NES Classic Edition, which comes inbuilt with games such as The Legend of Zelda, Mega Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. 3. We have already discussed how retro gaming is relevant and important and many of those games deliver something more than graphics and depth of today’s sprawling blockbusters – they are immensely playable. Being confined to your home might not be ideal, but with a retro gaming console, you will barely realise you are not allowed out. Sure, the NES Classic is retro for retro, originally releasing in 2016, but it’s now widely avaialble and without paying scalper’s inflated prices.

Pixel 5 5G

5G is here, and you may be in a position where you are thinking you need to jump to a 5G phone. That makes it a must-have gadget for 2021, and we have the perfect handset for you – the Pixel 5 5G. It has a powerful camera, and a Snapdragon 765G chipset with 8GB of RAM for smooth operation. The design is clean, slick and modern too and if you are upgrading this spring, then this might be the handset of choice.

Ring Always Home Cam Security Drone

Drone technology has been around for a while, as has home security technology such as video doorbells and smart devices. In 2021, take your security a step further, by buying a home security drone that patrols your property and records images. It is a great option for those with bigger homes or grounds and can take pictures or videos and replace multiple outdoor cameras you might have. It can also be triggered by movement, meaning if someone enters your garden it will immediately head over to see what is happening. It can also operate inside your home, allowing you to check on the dog, or whether you left the stove on. It is basically a security guard you do not have to pay.
