Have you been looking for information on how to use SMS Marketing to get more customers? Do you know that this is one of the most effective marketing strategies out there? Did you know that SMS Marketing can be used by everybody? Here, we are going to give you tips and tricks to increase your sales through SMS marketing.

Create an SMS Marketing Team

If you are planning to send out a flurry of SMS messages to a large group of people, you need to have a solid team or at least one rockstar volunteer on your side. It really wouldn’t hurt if you can fill your team with rockstars. To ensure everyone is on the same page, it is necessary to set up a system where you can collect feedback and monitor performance.

Ask for Permission

In order to send SMS text messages, you must seek the permission of your subscribers. There are two ways to do this, through an opt-in and an opt-out system. The main difference between the two is how many steps your subscribers have to take in order to reply. Opt-in requires two steps to reply while opt-out only requires one step.  This is also valuable because if the person does not want the ads they can opt-out right away, instead of getting annoyed upon every delivery.

Personalize your Messages

It is amazing how many people get this wrong. The best and quickest way to get people engaged with your business is to send them a personalized message. It doesn’t matter if you’re sending an SMS text message or an email, personalize the communication and it will convert better. The seasoned marketers at Messente point out that you must not make your customers feel like they are just another number or face in the crowd. Give them a reason to support you rather than your competitor.

Know Your Customer

A text message is your one way to get a consumer back to a purchase decision. It’s very crucial to segment by demographics so that your customers can receive the right message at the right time. You should know who you are messaging with and why, otherwise you might end up with a disaster campaign on your hands. If you have a clothing line, don’t send a coupon for a winter jacket to a 21-year-old for your store in Arizona, when she lives in Alabama.

Write Clear Messages

Good SMS marketing tricks don’t only come from the right tools, but also from how you compose your messages.  SMS text messages have an extremely short character limit – 160 characters to be exact. Which means you truly only have one or two sentences to communicate something. Write clear, concise messages designed to get your audience to take action.

Use Strong Call-to-Action Buttons

Call-to-action is the ultimate tool for user engagement. In a world where people are constantly bombarded with advertisements, creating a strong call to action is the only thing that will be responsible for driving your leads. Some strong call-to-action include For example, “Get My Free eBook” or “Get a Free Quote”. These are strong calls to action. You can also use text such as “Learn More” or “Start Now”.

Get Your Timing Right

When you’re planning an SMS marketing campaign, one of the most important things to get right is timing. Timing means deciding when your SMS messages are sent or received. You can purpose them to be delivered before, during, or after a certain event. Timing is crucial in order to increase engagement time, and improve overall ROI for your business. If your timing is wrong, it could mean that your message is going to the spam folder instead of the inbox.

Promote Opt-In Across All Media

A good way to make sure that leads receive your opt-in offer is to promote it across all media. This includes your website, but also social media profiles, email signatures, and even mobile applications or print material. When you have a clear call to action in every medium that your customer is in contact with, you can be certain that you will get plenty of subscribers.

Make Messages Feel Exclusive Even When They Are Not

If you are sending out a group text message it may feel like you are sharing a lot of personal information. However, people want to feel special. They want to feel they are receiving exclusive information. This can be supercharged by making them feel like others did not get the same information.

SMS marketing is still a great lead acquisition channel, but you have to be smart about it. This tips and tricks guide should help you.
